November 04, 2008 - GALE organized two workshops in which they introduced to ILGA the idea that different ways of storytelling can be used as tools for education in the strategy of LGBT organizations.

At the ILGA World Conference in Vienna (2008), Violeta Barrientos (Peru), Daniel Witthaus (Australia) and Peter Dankmeijer (Netherlands) of the Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE) facilitated two linked workshops in which they introduced the idea that different ways of storytelling can be used as tools for education in the strategy of LGBT organizations.
Storytelling is a core method of GALE, which will be part of a range of local projects focusing on documenting LGBT lives, schools, media and development organizations.
In the workshop, the participants interviewed each other about their success stories and analyzed how such stories could be used as educational tools. The discussion was finalized with some suggestions on this. In a follow-up workshop, three groups developed a small poster campaign to raise awareness of storytelling among the conference participants.
