GALE The Global Alliance for LGBT education
May 29, 2010 - The Gay and Lesbian Educators of B.C. (GALE-BC) in Vancouver, Canada has changed it name to Pride Education Network.
GALE BC, with a similar name to the Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE) has changed its name after 20 years. The new website is www.pridenet.ca and their email is info @ pridenet.ca.
GALE BC, now P.E.N. os a group of educators and advocates, regardless of sexual orientation/expression, who value the importance of a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all. The groups has teachers, counsellors, support staff, child care workers, special education assistants, and community & youth workers in the school system. There are also parents, college/university professors, pre-service teachers, retired educators, school administrators and school board trustees in the group.
Pride Education Network advocates for an inclusive, respectful environment for all students, staff and families, regardless of their actual or perceived sexual orientation and/or gender identity, within all B.C. educational institutions, through the development of concrete supports, policies, resources and actions.
